Simple and reliable tool for driveshaft cross joint assembly and staking

Use mechanical screw staking punching press PRK-2 for crimping and coring of driveshaft trunnions.

We designed staking punching press PRK-2 for assembly works and trunnion coring operations for repair and driveshaft production. As well as for other processes in which  you need the pressing operation.

Puncheon is installed and also fixed in the housing on the faceplate of the vertical head of the press, corresponding to the yoke bearing diameter.

A yoke with a trunnion is installed in such a way, so that the axis of the yoke hole (and the crosspiece) matches the axis of the puncheon. In like manner, a lower stop is installed to the trunnion support.

To perform the pressing, turn the headwheel of the press head clockwise.

What’s more, with the help of the press, it is possible to process cardan shafts and other products with parameters different from those presented above, if this does not interfere with comfortable work.

The press is designed for work in repair shops, although it does not require any special knowledge for operation and maintenance.

Your questions — our technical solutions

The PRK-2 is a specialized solution for the assembly and disassembly stages of driveshaft repair. It is strategically used after the defect detection stage to remove worn components and during the final assembly stage to install new ones. Its primary role is to ensure that U-joints are replaced without the impact loads (hammering) that can deform the yoke or damage the needle bearings.

The press is designed for high-precision manual operations, including:

  • Disassembly: Pressing out U-joint crosses from the yokes.
  • Assembly: Precise installation of new U-joint cups.
  • Staking/Crimping: Securely fixing the U-joint cups using the “staking” method (for non-serviceable driveshafts).
  • Removal/Installation: Handling of support bearings and other press-fit components.

The PRK-2 is a versatile unit capable of servicing a wide range of vehicles, from passenger cars to heavy-duty commercial trucks.

Max Compression Force: Up to 5500 kg, allowing it to handle even “frozen” or rusted U-joints.

Compatibility: It works with all types of yokes (flange yokes, weld yokes, slip yokes) and is specifically optimized for the “non-serviceable” driveshafts commonly found in modern OEM configurations.

To ensure a universal fit, the PRK-2 features a modular design:

  • Adjustable Working Height: The press head can be moved to accommodate different driveshaft sizes.
  • Interchangeable Tooling Kit: Includes a set of specialized mandrels and punches of various diameters to match different U-joint cup sizes.
  • Staking Tools: Specific bits for professional-grade crimping that mirrors factory assembly quality.

The PRK-2 is engineered for high-intensity industrial use, featuring several proprietary design solutions:

  • Ball Screw Mechanism Design: The high-efficiency ball screw mechanism ensures smooth, low-friction force transmission and an extended service life under heavy, continuous loads.
  • Tactile Control: The mechanical drive provides immediate tactile feedback, enabling precise micro-adjustments that are not possible with pneumatic or high-speed hydraulic systems.
  • Rigid C-Frame Construction: The reinforced frame eliminates structural deflection, guaranteeing coaxial force application to prevent tilting of the cups or damage to the yoke seats.
